THE VENUE

Again this year the MAAG was held at McMurdo's Mechanical Equipment Center (MEC), which also doubles as the snowmobile repair shop. The venue offers ample room for displays and participatory artwork, and provides a rustic out-of-the-mainstream setting in keeping with the purpose of the gallery.

This year's opening included an improvisational jazz band.

The MEC is one of the oldest buildings on station, dating back to the 1960's. It is slated for demolition in 2002.
